Alanah

Hi! My name is Alanah, and I’m currently a Public Health major at Portland State University! I believe communities are so important in life, and I hope to create and be a part of environments where people feel safe, supported, and understood. I would describe myself as more introverted than extroverted, but I’m very easy to connect with once you get to know me. I’m naturally empathetic, patient, and a bit of a perfectionist, as I take pride in making sure even the smallest things are handled. But I do believe mistakes are totally okay and a natural and important part of  learning and growth. I’m also very calm, open-minded, and a good listener!

I enjoy spending time both indoors and outdoors. I love reading (and always welcome recommendations), learning about cars and their history, and relaxing with my cat, Maverick. I enjoy going or walks and being outside when the weather is nice, but I also appreciate cozy indoor time with a book or just fiddling around. I love opportunities to dress up for special events! I think it’s fun and brings a little extra excitement into everyday life. I’ve also volunteered at Outdoor School a couple of times throughout high school, where I worked closely with kids, and I enjoyed it so much. I love being around kids, as their imagination, curiosity, and creativity bring so much joy to me, and I enjoy encouraging that energy while keeping them feeling confident and safe.
