Staff members and contractors who provide support services to customers in the the Company will be highly qualified in their areas of expertise and will meet the following state requirements (outlined in OAR 411-340-170):

• They must be at least 18 years of age.
• They must have approval to work based on the current ODDS policies and procedures for review of criminal history.
• They must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• They must demonstrate by their background, education, references, skills, and abilities that they are capable of safely and adequately performing the tasks specified in a customer’s Individual Support Plan. These need to include:
  • The ability and sufficient education to follow oral and written instructions and keep any records required.
  • The responsibility, maturity, reputable character and ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • The ability to communicate with the customer.
• They must have training that is sufficient to ensure the employee has knowledge of emergency procedures specific to the customer they are working with.
• They must hold a current, valid and unrestricted appropriate professional license or certification, in instances where care and supervision of a customer requires  specific professional education, training or skill.
• They must understand the requirements of maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding customer information.
• They must not be on the current Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services list of excluded or debarred providers.
• They must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance if they are providing transportation for customers, as well as any other license or certification that is required by state or local law for the nature and scope of the transportation service that is being provided.
• They must have a current CPR and First Aid certification, obtained from a recognized training agency, prior to working alone with customers.
