Samantha
Direct Support Professional
Hello! My name is Samantha, but you can call me Sam. I don’t like being called Sami,
I’m not six years old or a six-inch sandwich.
I was born at OHSU and have been an Oregonian my entire life.
My teens and early 20s were spent in Central Oregon with my family,
living in Bend and Madras. I worked at the Kah-nee-ta Resort and at the elementary school on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation in the Educational Resource Room.
One of my greatest memories from there was during the summer reading program, when the ‘light bulb for reading’ turns on in a child… it’s like magic.
As an adult, I majored in Psychology and earned my bachelor’s degree from Marylhurst University in 2017.
I am the mother of two young adults.
Mason and Matthew both live in Salem and are busy building their lives. I am recently married.
My husband Mike has worked for the Clackamas County Roads Department for almost 30 years.
In my spare time I like to tend my little vegetable garden and keep my flowers and tiny yard neat.
I like being in nature, walking in the park to watch birds or hiking in the forest to soak up the peace and quiet.
I’m crafty, creative, and resourceful. I can make something out of almost anything. I like to read, do puzzles, and play games.
I enjoy going out to the movies or trying new places to eat. I think bowling is the best! I’ve been part of the bowling community my whole life.
Bowling is the only sport I can think of that can be played by anyone, at any age, at any skill level, at any ability, or with any disability.
It really is a lifelong sport.
As a Direct Support Professional, I want to help my clients live their best lives… whatever that looks like for them!
Whether it’s the regular business of daily life or setting new personal goals and crushing them!
I am eager to learn new things and make meaningful connections. I am a strong advocate who is passionate about everyone’s rights.
I am also a compassionate person and a good listener.
