Workplace Policies

  • The company does most of its work in the community, in the homes of its customers, or in their place of employment. The workplace is defined as anywhere an employee is providing approved, contractual services to a customer.
  • The company has a drug-free policy for its officers, its employees, and its workplace (see Addendum F).
  • The company has a policy of compliance with the Oregon Indoor Clean Air Act. For the purposes of the act, smoking can relate to any form of tobacco or any other substance; smoking from a “Traditional” cigarette, pipe, “E-Cig”, etc. Employees may not smoke in in the following locations; their own vehicles while with customers and customers’ homes at any time. Employees should not allow customers to smoke in their vehicles or residences. While an employee is in a customer’s home or vehicle, the home or vehicle becomes the employee’s workplace. While a customer is in an employee’s home, the home becomes the employer’s workplace for the purpose of the law. This also extends to vehicles. Even if both customer and employee are both smokers, the act requires a smoke-free environment. Smoking must be done at least 10 feet away from all entrances as required by the law.
  • The company shall not discriminate against employees or prospective employees on the basis of age, disability, race, color, creed, national origin, sexual orientation, citizenship, income, or duration of Oregon residence.
