What is Required to work as a Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Steps to Take

The following training is REQUIRED to work independently with Individuals as a DSP:
Completion of CPR/First Aid & Workday Oregon Courses:

CPR/First Aid Certification. There are many accepted by the State of Oregon. (The following is copied from OAR 411-360-0010)
(i) Accepted CPR and First Aid courses must be provided or endorsed by the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, the American Safety and Health Institute, or MEDIC First  Aid, or the Health and Safety Institute. 
(ii) CPR or First Aid courses conducted online are only accepted by the Department when an in-person skills competency check is conducted by a qualified instructor endorsed by the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, the American Safety and Health Institute, or MEDIC First Aid, or the Health and Safety Institute.

Oregon State Mandated Courses through Workday Oregon:

In order to take the following courses, you must first create a Workday Oregon account. To create an account, go to Workday Oregon’s “Register to Learn” website

Step 1-Select Country (United states of America), then click “Nest Step”

 

Step 2- Fill in the blanks for “First Name, Last Name and Email”. Then click “Submit Registartion”
